The Gladiator debuted in the 2020 model year. Since then, it’s basically been a Wrangler with a pickup truck bed. It has a lot going for it, including the fact that it’s the only midsize truck you can buy with a diesel engine.
Rubicon is definitely up there. It’s designed to go slowly on trails, unlike the Mojave, and it’s more of a desert runner. It’s suspended from Fox, which is a third-party supplier. Plus, you get an electronically disconnected front anti-slip bar.
Of course, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon isn’t all that cheap. It comes with a starting MSRP of around $50,000. So it is likely that choosing to customize a Jeep truck will be less financially viable for some.
Overall, accordingly, this may be the most capable midsize truck being sold today.
Are Midsize Trucks Good for 4WD?
The right midsize truck can make a great SUV. Especially with most manufacturers offering some sort of off-road package or trim for these pickups. You have a Toyota with a Tacoma TRD Pro, a Nissan with a Frontier PRO-4X, and even a rumored Raptor spec.
From the factory, most of these midsize trucks should be well-equipped to handle less traveled roads. Sometimes though, the best route can be to make adjustments yourself.
By modifying your truck, you can save money and ensure that you have the components you need. But this takes some hard work. So for some people, choosing something like this might be the right choice.
After all, Jeep has been in the off-road game for quite some time. Because of this, she has a great deal of experience building vehicles like this. Even if the Gladiator loses some of its ability due to its length, it can still manipulate the path. Plus, you get that outdoor experience.
Of course, as an off-road enthusiast and car lover in general, I have to mention my favorite part. You can still get a new Jeep with a manual transmission. This option is limited to petrol engines, but in a world where manuals are dying, that’s fine.
