The Electric Ram Truck Will Be a Towing Beast

Everything about the Revolution electric truck is larger than life: It has three rows of seating, a full-size bed, and 35-inch tires. The Ram is also targeting a 500-mile range, and with a separate electric motor for each axle, we’d expect it to produce masses of power. But one of the most surprising things about the 2024 Ram 1500 Revolution is that it also might be the best towing rig Ram has ever built.

Will an electric ram be good in diameter?

Early road testers discovered that electric trucks are—as—very capable tow platforms. This is because the electric motors achieve maximum torque at zero rpm, which puts the low-end grunt of even the diesel to shame. Ram prioritizes towing ability with its Revoluiton EV.

It gives electric vehicles superior performance both on road and off road.

However, hauling a heavy load can cut an electric truck’s range in half. But Ram aims to solve this problem as well.

Ram deals with range anxiety

One of the main problems with the first generation of electric cars is range anxiety caused by both the limited range and long charging times. Since towing greatly reduces the range of an electric vehicle, this problem is more important for electric trucks than for cars. But Ram anxiously catches the scale of the horns.

Ram aims to tackle the range issue with two new technologies — according to its parent company. The first is a new solid-state battery technology that Ram hopes will give its electric trucks a maximum range of 500 miles. The second technology is Ram’s new “Range Electric Paradigm Breaker (REPB)” configuration.

The automaker hasn’t released any information about the technology, but we expect it to be a small gasoline generator available in the bed of its electric pickup trucks. Ram wouldn’t be the first automaker to offer a range extender. Similar technology has proven itself in both the old Chevy Bolt and the BMW i3.

The extended-range Ram will be a very powerful pickup truck with unlimited towing range that still gets better MPG than current gasoline and diesel trucks. The only downside to such a truck is that the first generation will be more expensive than a conventional petrol-powered truck.

The sixth generation Ram 150 will be an excellent towing platform

The sixth generation Ram 1500 will likely be available as an electric vehicle and a petrol hybrid. Blueprints for the Ram Revolution concept truck indicate that the sixth-generation Ram will have an independent rear suspension with rear coil springs.

While many tow fans prefer the stability of a solid rear axle, Jeep’s new Wagoneer proves that the latest generation of independent rear suspension is just as capable. With a tow rating of 10,000, the Grand Wagoneer boasts the highest towing capacity of any Jeep.
