Does the Ford Maverick Tremor Help the City Truck Off-Road?

We keep hearing the Maverick described as the city truck. Logical. It is small and can fit into tight parking spaces. But how adventurous is this urban excursion? Does it already have off-road upgrades?

What comes with the Ford Maverick Tremor?

The Tremor is an off-road appearance package, so it comes with some significant upgrades and a bolder look. Depending on how you feel, he may seem mean or sweet.

The Tremor is well-equipped to handle the trails, but it’s not the best. Share that while it has an excellent angle of approach of 30.7 degrees, the breaking angle of 19.9 degrees and departure angle of 22.2 degrees are not great.

Make sure you take a good look at each obstacle and have your lookout monitors ready before attempting to climb over anything. But the 4×4 lock should provide extra traction to get out of the mud and ruts.

The front bumper has black plastic that’s easy to scrape off, but steel skid plates protect the transmission and fuel tank. Other components feel underpowered, and the exhaust is a little low-key.

But on a positive note, the advanced AWD system includes a dual-clutch rear-wheel drive unit that can shift rear-axle torque to either wheel as needed.

It comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough power to send it through challenges, but the Tremor package reduced the maximum towing capacity from 4,000 to 2,000 pounds.

Is Maverick Tremor worth buying?

The $2655 is totally worth it if you need to take on the challenges of light off-road. However, as a city truck, how often will drivers take their renegade models off the pavement?

Other AWD models should be able to get you to your campsite just fine. Plus, they can haul more camping gear. The Maverick Tremor package might offer things most people don’t need while leaving parts of the underbody exposed.

Also, because of the stiffer suspension and knobbier tires, the Maverick Tremor’s ride could be a bit sharper. A raised suspension may contribute to more body roll as well. But drivers may prefer the taller ride height in traffic.

The Maverick Quake adds affordable upgrades to off-road driving for light adventures. If you plan to wade through the mud or tackle steep inclines, a larger truck like the Ford Ranger might be a better option.
