The mid-size Ranger and compact Ford Maverick are successful pickup trucks. Maverick sales, in particular, are very high. However, for 2024, there is something in her favour. There’s a big reason the 2024 Ford Ranger is better than the 2023 Ford Maverick: an excellent redesign.

In recent years, the guard has begun to become obsolete. It was also overshadowed by its younger brother, Maverick, who was selling in droves. However, with its fun redesign, the 2024 Ford Ranger is much improved. Conversely, the 2023 Ford Maverick is a carryover model with only minor changes. If you want the latest pickup truck look, the 2024 Ranger might be a good pick for you.

A full-size truck, especially for the front end. There’s a new large grille, as well as matrix LED headlights. Along the side, the Ranger has strong character lines. At the rear, it has new tail lights.

The Ranger’s interior has also been redesigned – with a more luxurious look and feel than the Maverick. It has high-quality soft-touch materials, the SYNC 4 infotainment system, and a center touchscreen with a prominent vertical pattern.

It is important to note that the next generation Ranger will be available in the US for the 2024 model year, but for some global markets it is being introduced for the 2023 model year.

The 2024 Ranger is better for off-road use, especially with the new Raptor model

The current-generation 2023 Ford Ranger is actually better for off-road use than the 2023 Ford. The all-wheel-drive system is more efficient for driving over difficult terrain than the Maverick’s all-wheel-drive system. Also, all-wheel drive is not available for the standard Maverick hybrid version.

Additionally, off-road capabilities are even better for the 2024 Ranger with the introduction of the off-road Ranger Raptor model to the US market. With high ground clearance and features like a Fox shock absorber, coil-spring rear suspension, and chunky all-terrain tires, the Ranger Raptor is ready to head off into the wilderness.

The 2024 engine also offers more powerful engines than the 2023 Maverick. The US-spec Ranger comes with a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the Ranger Raptor features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine that generates 288 horsepower and 491 lb-ft of torque.

By comparison, the car’s standard hybrid powertrain produces just 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. Maverick also offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. However, its output of 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque doesn’t come close to matching the output of the Ranger engines.

Furthermore, the Ranger can tow a heavier load. It has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds, compared to 4,000 pounds for the all-gas-powered Maverick and 2,000 pounds for the Maverick Hybrid. Also, the Ranger offers a higher maximum load capacity for hauling items in the pickup bed (1,860 vs. 1,564 pounds).

With its excellent redesign, the 2024 Ford Ranger is better than the 2023 Ford Maverick in a notable way. When deciding which pickup truck to get, this is a major factor to consider.
