But Automotive Complaints found that owners of 2005 and 2007 models reported experiencing the most problems with their trucks. Additionally, 10 owners of the 2022 Tundras have already reported issues, down from just one or two for each of the previous three model years.
The 2006 model year was the only year ever reported by Consumer Reports. Car complaints recorded 11 complaints from the owner of the 2006 Toyota Tundra for body and paint problems, eight more for engine problems, and eight for transmission problems. Most of those engine problems are the air pump annoying malfunction again. Six 2007 Toyota Tundra owners reported the same air pump problem. Note that no 2008 Toyota Tundras owners have reported an air pump issue, so Toyota must have addressed this issue.
NHTSA has already opened a file on the 2006 Toyota Tundra’s body problems (mainly frame rust) and has received 145 more complaints.
Which Toyota Tundra has the most engine problems?
According to Automotive Complaints, 21 owners of a 2007 Toyota Tundra, 11 2006 owners, and 20 2005 owners reported engine problems. While studying the Toyota Tundra, the NHTSA found that 44 2005 owners had engine problems and 55 2006 owners had engine problems. The consensus isn’t great for any of these typical years.
The average cost to repair an air injector pump on a 2005 Toyota Tundra is $1,740. The problem also tends to be seen at 103,350 miles on average.
Ten owners of the redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundra reported problems to Automotive Complaints. Of these, only two are engine problems. That’s actually rather impressive, considering Toyota completely ditched its car and replaced it with an all-new turbocharged V6.
