The Tundra has always been the brand’s full-size truck. And with the advent of a new generation in 2022, this pickup truck also got a very luxurious look. This truck, as it is known, delivers what you would expect from a luxury vehicle. Unfortunately, it also comes with a luxury price tag. So, what’s the deal with the higher-end Tundra?
What is a Toyota Tundra Capstone?
The Tundra Capstone is the best version of Toyota’s full-size pickup. It comes standard with a twin-turbo V6 iForce MAX hybrid engine that produces 437 horsepower. This Toyota truck also features loads of chrome and 22 inch wheels. And when I took the test last November, I was totally impressed with the level of detail Toyota put into it.
The trim can’t tow or haul like other Tundra models. Plus, you’re limited to the hybrid drive.
The Tundra Capstone is a next-level truck
If you haven’t had a chance to see what very expensive trucks have to offer these days, you’ll probably be surprised by the Tundra Capstone. Accordingly, you get adaptive dampers and rear air springs that can raise or lower the bed. And when you get inside, you might feel a little nervous about doing things in the trucks.
Sure, I found the leather-trimmed interior to be very comfortable. But I also felt the need to make sure my shoes were free of any dirt or mud before I got behind the wheel. I just felt like this full-size truck deserved to be treated with care.
Driving the 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone was a bit of a surprise. The Capstone has soundproofing glass on the front doors and as you drive around town or on the highway, you feel isolated. Combined with this car’s solid presence on the road, the new Tundra’s handling inspires confidence.
Is the most expensive version of the Tundra worth it?
At over $75,000, it’s hard to tell if there’s a case. It comes with just about every feature this truck has to offer, but it’s not necessarily the best at doing truck things.
However, there is no denying that this is a luxury car. In another world, if you put a Lexus badge on a Toyota Tundra Capstone, I guess it can pass. So, this isn’t for everyone, but it’s impressive.
I’m not sure how many people are going to go out there and get this pickup truck. Lower trims can come equipped quite well, and there’s always a TRD Pro model for people who enjoy off-road driving.
But for people who demand the highest levels of luxury and features, this truck is there.
