In the video, Demuro takes you on a full tour of the Silverado EV and shows off the upcoming truck’s famous quirks and features. It profiles a pre-production version, which means some features don’t actually work. This also means that he cannot drive it.

. Like that monster truck, it’s only available as a four-door van. Demuro reviews the top-spec version, so you can see every feature on the truck. But Chevy expects the new WT or Work Truck model to start at around $40,000.

What are some of the Silverado EV’s quirks?

Like the old Chevy Avalanche trucks, the Silverado has a mid-gate. On those trucks and the Silverado EV, you can fold down the rear seats and headboards to extend the length of the bed, which can be convenient for extra-long items. Generally, this means you can get a bed about nine feet long. With the Multi Flex tailgate dropped down, the bed can extend up to 11 feet.

Speaking of the bed, Chevy will add up so you can plug in power tools. The truck doesn’t have an EV logo anywhere either. Instead, Demuro points out that the Silverado’s E is custom-built. One thing many truck owners will rejoice in is that the truck has dials, not on-screen buttons, for adjusting radio volume and climate controls.

The Silverado is equipped with storage, and there is an automatic trunk opener on the dash. Truck owners should also rejoice in the presence of hidden storage under the rear seats. Why don’t other manufacturers do this? But, it does have a traditional column-mounted transmission, just like your dad’s old Buick.

When can you get a Silverado EV?

Chevy is dedicated to the Silverado EV, and the trucks will be available in the fall of 2023. That’s a long time to wait for a new truck, sure. Reservations are refundable, but you still have to wait for Chevy to contact you to confirm your order, which means you can only then choose your color and trim and find out your delivery date. Interestingly, Chevy also says that when the company contacts you, you’ll find other details like model year, which likely means you could be waiting for a 2025 truck.

However, it might be worth the wait. Reports indicate that Chevy now says it can tow up to 20,000 pounds when equipped.

The base mode, the WT version, starts at $39,900. That price matched the base price of the competing Ford F-150 Lighting when that truck debuted, but Ford has since raised the price. Chevy promises that you can order the truck in several trim levels from $50,000 to $80,000, depending on the battery and features you want. A midgate, panoramic roof, four-wheel steering, and other options are additional options on the RST, which can cost close to $100,000 entirely.
