Despite the reliability ratings Honda has earned over the years, this truck has had some annoying and costly maintenance issues. Which versions have the worst problems? Let’s take a look at the top three of the worst Honda Ridgeline model years and whatnot.
1.2006 Honda Ridgeline
It debuted in 2005 for the 2006 model year. As is typical for first-year versions of a car, problems arise, and this is especially true with the Ridgeline. The engine in the truck has seen several instances of owners having trouble with cylinder #4. In all reported cases, the cylinder has exploded.

While Honda has resolved many of the previous issues it had, it hit another snag with the 2017 model. This time the Ridgeline saw it as confusing for owners as well as service technicians.
At random, the warning lights would come on, sometimes several at once. This is starting to happen with trucks that have between 26,000 to 56,000 miles on the odometer.
Honda technicians determined the problem was an electrical fault inside the truck and fixed the problem for one owner at no cost. Another problem that arose was that of a failed fuel injector.
Drivers will first notice an emission system warning light, and after a while, the truck will start to run badly. Replacing the offending fuel injector costs some owners around $1,600 to fix.
Some owners also reported a problem with the navigation system. An error may occur in the Maps section of the infotainment system without displaying any maps. The owners unsuccessfully tried to fix the error. When the technicians looked at it, none of them could replicate the error, so no fix was offered.
The Honda Ridgeline is a very good truck and with time. However, if you are looking to buy a used model, you will want to avoid the 2006, 2007, and 2017 versions as these had quite a few issues that needed to be ironed out. If you insist on getting one of these models, be sure to check and see if the issues are resolved before purchasing.
