This is the new mid-size Jeep. Despite its five-foot pickup bed, the Jeep Gladiator shares chassis and drivetrains with the Wrangler Unlimited SUV. But the Wrangler is an excellent base for a midsize pickup truck, and the fact is, the Gladiator can even compete with half-ton trucks like the Ram 1500.
Is the Jeep Gladiator good in towing?
The maximum towing capacity of the Jeep Gladiator is 7,650 lbs. In addition, the rigid axle structure makes it more stable during heavy loading than some vehicles with more power but independent rear suspension.
It claims that the Gladiator has the highest payload capacity of any midsize 4WD pickup. With distinctive body-on-frame construction and solid axles both front and rear, it’s no surprise that it’s up to carrying heavy loads.
One of the Gladiator’s biggest payload limitations is the size of the pickup truck’s bed: It’s only five feet long and 44.8 inches wide. At 35.5 inches high, however, it’s a relatively deep pickup bed. It’s slightly larger than the Tacoma’s five-foot bed (although you can order the Tacoma with a 6.1-foot bed, too). It’s much smaller than even the smallest bed available in a full-size pickup truck.
Is the Jeep Gladiator an expensive truck?
One of the unique aspects of the Jeep Gladiator is its higher base price. It has an MSRP of $38,305 ($39,305 after destination fee). That makes it more expensive than the base model of every full-size truck except the Nissan Titan.
