As it stands, you should have no problems ordering the 2023 Silverado 1500. This truck first started production in 2022, and most options and configurations are still available. So, if you like it, it might not be difficult to find one that suits your specific needs.
Well, that’s a good pick. It feels tough, though there are some shortcomings when compared to the competition. More importantly, the fact that their ride isn’t as comfortable as trucks like the Ford F-150 or Ram 1500. However, Chevy trucks do have a following. General Motors is clearly doing something right.
General Motors stops production of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
If you’ve been paying attention to the auto market for the past few years, this might sound a bit nuts. But General Motors temporarily halted production of its full-size trucks for two weeks at one of its truck plants. The downtime will take place at the Ford Wayne Assembly plant and should begin at the end of March.
This pause is not due to any quality control issues; GM is just trying to bring its supply in line with industry standards. That means targeting 50- to 60-day inventory for trucks like the 1500.
As it is, production of this truck has skyrocketed, but sales haven’t necessarily kept up. Because of this oversupply, it can be easy for a pickup truck to sit at the dealership for longer than the store would like. The goal of pause is to match inventory supply with demand.
Although production will be discontinued at the Fort Wayne plant, other truck production plants will continue to make pickups. Therefore, a shortage of Chevy Silverado 1500 models is not expected.
Has the demand for new trucks decreased?
Accordingly, there has been a decrease in demand for new pickup trucks. There could be several reasons behind this, but it seems like a lot of consumers are turning to the used market to get a new car. Interest rates are on the rise, so a new car loan probably doesn’t look as attractive as it did in 2019.
At the end of the day, it’s still Chevy’s most popular car. It ranges from being a work truck to a legitimate luxury pickup. And while there’s no Silverado 1500 that truly competes with the F-150 Raptor or Ram TRX, it does have some solid off-road chops.
