Ram is late to the electric truck party. The American automaker’s electric pickup truck will be followed by models from Rivian, Ford and General Motors.

Will offer. The Ram REV shown at CES 2023 was a concept vehicle. The production version can be very different.

According to Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, he said that an internal combustion engine would be an option for the Ram 1500 Revolution during a roundtable discussion. This is likely to be a plug-in hybrid system similar to the system found in plug-in hybrid models such as the Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid. This PHEV system will make the Ram 1500 Revolution the first plug-in hybrid pickup truck.

So, there will be a Ram 1500 Revolution BEV and Ram 1500 Revolution PHEV. That’s great news because while the all-electric option is welcome, it’s not as practical for towing or long-distance driving as a plug-in hybrid vehicle. As if the new Ram truck wasn’t sweet enough.

The Ram 1500 Revolution will rival the Ford F-150 Lightning, and possibly the Tesla Cybertruck (it’s three times overdue so far). Upper trim levels that offer more capability and features at a higher price point will compete with the Rivian R1T and GMC Hummer EV.

With the Ram 1500 being one of the most popular full-size pickup trucks on the market, many consumers expect the Ram 1500 EV to be competitive as well. There’s no telling whether or not the Ram 1500 EV will deliver the same value as the F-150 Lightning or Silverado EV. One thing is certain after the debut of the electric van. Ram is coming to compete at the highest level.

What do drivers want from an electric pickup truck?

The Ram 1500 is known for its stylish interior and smooth ride quality. Consumers expect the same degree of comfort and style from the Ram 1500 Revolution. An electric truck (and its PHEV counterpart) must be stylish, capable, and affordable enough to become popular on American roads.
