An automotive research company recently conducted a study to see which vehicles would last longer. They analyzed more than 2 million vehicles produced and sold for at least 10 of the past 20 model years, and ranked each by its highest-mileage models. All 20 models on the list have at least 2.5 percent of the top 20 models have 20,000 miles, and the top 1 percent have done at least 230,000 miles.
They have been built since the D100 debuted in 1980.
#4: Ford Ranger – 220,980 miles
The Ranger is the only light truck on the list. But the fourth-generation truck can still get the job done. The nameplate has been used on many models of pickup trucks sold worldwide by Ford since 1982.
#3: GMC Sierra 1500 – 222,691 miles
Mechanically identical to the Chevrolet 1500, it is the more upscale version of the full-size pickup truck. With plenty of V8 engines to choose from, each has been praised for its long-lasting characteristics.
#2: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – 230,515 miles
The Silverado was originally offered as a range-topping trim level on their C/K-series trucks. In 1999, it became the successor to GM’s pickups, selling more than 12 million over 24 years.
#1: Ford F-150 – 232,650 miles
