We recently had the opportunity to test the 2023 Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade and we were impressed with some of the newer features it had to offer. Sure, it could have come with a bit more, but that’s what higher trim levels are for. Regardless, check out these four great features we found on this one.
1. The 19-inch TRD Bronze wheels match the paint better than you might think
To be honest, we’re usually not fans of bronze wheels. The dark gold color does not match well with most body colors, and is very reminiscent of the old Subaru Impreza WRX. However, when the 2023 Camry Nightshade dropped, we were pleasantly surprised at how well the dark blue paint job matched the 19-inch bronze wheels.

2. The Toyota Camry Nightshade’s black exterior looks good
To complement the bronze wheels, Toyota inserted some black exterior accents on the Camry Nightshade for a more menacing look. There’s a black front grille with Sport Mesh insert, black rear spoiler, black mirror caps, and black head and tail lights to complete the look. These touches give the Camry a much-needed boost in the beauty department. So much so, that it’s safe to say that the Camry is no longer boring.
3. Sport SofTex seats have a cushioned feel and comfort
Although higher trim levels of the 2023 Camry offer leather-trimmed seats, we liked the SofTex-wrapped sport seats in the trim. They offer plenty of comfort, feel good, and look sporty enough to fit the car’s exterior aesthetics nicely.
4. The Camry Hybrid’s powertrain is extremely fuel efficient
Under the hood of each model is the Toyota Hybrid System, which consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. Together, the system generates 208 hp, but Toyota is silent about the torque rating. However, the numbers don’t matter, as the engine delivers plenty of power when accelerating on the highway and passing slower cars.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the EPA estimates the Camry Hybrid can achieve up to 44 mpg city and 47 mpg highway. In our testing, we were able to get an average of 38 mpg in combined driving situations. Admittedly, that’s a bit below the ratings but it’s still pretty good for a midsize sedan.
Great Features of the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade
In the end, we had our time with the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade. We wish it had more features like an upgraded audio system and touchscreen, which you can get on higher Camry trim levels. However, with an MSRP of around $33,000, it’s hard to beat this Camry SE Nightshade Edition.
