First Drive: The 2022 Acura MDX Only Has 1 Disappointing Feature

We’re going to be spending a week with the MDX Type S, and of course we’re excited. In fact, we started things off with a three-hour road trip to get to know this elegant beast. While we still have a lot to learn and more driving to do, there is one feature that is disappointing.

The Acura MDX 2022 could have a better infotainment setup

We still have more to learn about 2022, but so far, we only have one flaw to report. The 12.3-inch infotainment screen is not a touch screen. This wasn’t a pleasant surprise because we’ve already experienced it in every Mazda SUV.

Implement. From busy highways, mountain climbs, and winding country roads, this luxury SUV is extremely sporty and attractive.

A 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine produces 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds. Accordingly, it is more lively than the standard engine.

We have already taken advantage of the adaptive sport air suspension. It is tuned to improve maneuverability, ride comfort and height. It absorbs and softens impacts very well without feeling stiff or buoyant.

You can feel the connection to the road through the tires for more confidence around the bends. The MDX feels confident and believable well with almost no body roll. The seats are well supported to keep you in place.

Even with the larger 21-inch wheels, the Acura MDX delivers a smooth ride. Brembo brakes are solid and predictable. We can’t wait to test every drive mode, but we probably won’t have any winter weather to put the snow in.

Is 2022 MDX comfortable?

Yes, the Type S is very comfortable, at least in the front row. We will report on the second and third rows.

The front seats are large and well-padded for long trips. There are plenty of tuning controls for the perfect driving and riding position. You can adjust the lumbar support, side support, and the length of the thigh support.

The seats are heated and ventilated, but ventilation is somewhat lacking. In addition, the front seats have a massager. They are noticeably stronger than the massage seats in the Infiniti QX60. However, the interior sound is louder than expected at highway speeds.

We’ll hit the road with more to learn about the Acura MDX. Stay tuned for more discoveries about what’s good and bad with this luxury 3-row SUV.
