In the highly competitive midsize SUV segment, two of the leading choices are the Pilot and the Ford Explorer. Another element of the redesign for the 2023 Honda Pilot is an increase in size. It’s bigger than the outgoing model. The 2023 Pilot is 3.4 inches longer, with a longer wheelbase and wider track. In addition to giving the midsize SUV a more aggressive style, the increase in size translates into more interior space.

Honda claims the redesigned Pilot has best-in-class overall passenger space. It seats up to eight passengers, up from seven on the 2023 Explorer. Additionally, the pilot offers a generous amount of storage space. It has a rear cargo capacity of 22.4 cubic feet and a maximum cargo capacity of 113.7 cubic feet, compared to the Explorer’s 18.2/87.8 cubic feet. In addition, there are useful storage compartments and many cup holders in the Pilot.

Furthermore, the Explorer’s cabin is more modern and elegant. It is technologically sophisticated with liberal use of premium features.

Additionally, the 2023 Pilot offers features that aren’t available in the 2023 Explorer. For a more comfortable ride, it has new body-stabilizing seats, which reduce fatigue on long rides. Plus, to amplify your voice when you’re a rear passenger, it has a CabinTalk feature.

In addition, the tire filling assistant function makes it easier for the midsize SUV to fill the tires with air. In addition, it has a traffic sign recognition function. When approaching a traffic sign on the road, a sign icon is displayed on the digital rider interface.

The CabinTalk feature is standard on EX-L trim levels and above, while other features are standard on all Pilot trim levels. Conversely, you can’t get any of these features in Explorer.

The 2023 Honda has an outstanding redesign, giving it a major advantage over the 2023 Ford Explorer. When deciding which midsize SUV to buy, this is an important consideration.
