2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Production Is Struggling

We’ve been waiting a long time for more units to be available for cars like the Silverado 1500. Supply chain shortages were supposed to ease in 2023, but things don’t seem to be backing down. Now another assembly plant is extending its production halt.

Due to a mysterious supply chain issue, things are slowing down in the 2023 1500. Automotive News reports that General Motors is extending a halt to production of GMC and Chevrolet trucks at its Silao assembly plant in Mexico.

. But those troublesome supply chain and logistical issues could slow things down. Some people have been waiting six to nine months.

Wait times could be up to a year, depending on the make and model they ordered. For example, the Silverado TrailBoss is one of the more difficult options.

Scheduled production dates for the Silverado 1500 could be delayed due to supply constraints. General Motors would like to avoid a massive backlog of unfinished trucks.

Some auto manufacturers, such as Ford, have stored unfinished models in parking lots, and the backlog can be seen from space! But semiconductor chips were added as soon as they became available.

Maybe things will move faster soon. General Motors is improving production, capacity and shipping. For example, GM purchased additional vehicle carrier capacity and contracted resources to deliver vehicles to dealerships.

It is primarily a relay model. It just got a refreshed exterior and new interior updates for 2022. Plus, the Silverado 1500 ZR2 off-road model debuted.

However, the 2023 Silverado 1500 Duramax diesel engine has gained significant upgrades to gain more power. The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine gained 28 horsepower and 35 lb-ft of torque. It generates 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque.

It gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. The Silverado diesel can tow up to 9,500 lbs. The gas-powered model can tow up to 13,300 lbs.
