We had a great time being seniors and in charge of the 2500 HD Rebel. During our week of on- and off-road driving, work, and play, we discovered that the Rebel stands out as an excellent work truck.

Pricing for the 2023 Ram 2500 HD Rebel starts at $68,490, and we realize that price makes a big difference. Plus, an upgrade to the diesel engine adds $9595. But it has the advantages of saving fuel and packing extra muscle.
. Ram lock boxes on both sides of the bed are deep and wide. It is very convenient to open them and put boxes of tools or groceries.
People shorter than about 5’1 can easily reach and use it, even though it sits on top of taller truck beds. Plus, it’s lined with durable rubber. It looks scratch resistant and will stand up to the wet or muddy elements.
The center console is huge. It is extra deep and has storage trays and boxes to help with organization. It also has a cubby at the top and is surrounded by trays and cubbies. One section slides back and forth to provide access to another deep container by transmission.
We are impressed with the size of the glovebox, and there is another compartment above it. There is rear seat storage under the rear seats, and they are easy to fold. Another tab folds up to hold storage bins and can be used to create a massive, flat loading floor.
Also, cup holders everywhere. All of your co-workers can bring multiple drinks to stay hydrated during long shifts.
2. Ram Rebel HD will get the job done
There is no way to easily stop the 2023 HD Rebel in the woods. Cummins’ 6.7-liter inline-six turbo engine delivers 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. We were worried about her size and weight in the woods, but she didn’t have any issues.
The Ram HD Rebel is solid and confident in mud, ruts, drifty roads, and uneven surfaces. It can climb steep slopes and is surprisingly fast-moving. It’s easy to get around on narrow dirt tracks and work sites.
It has a two-speed transfer case, protective skid plates, 20-inch eight-spoke wheels wrapped in 33-inch tires, and a locking rear differential.
Off-road driving stats in the digital gauge cluster and infotainment system provide confidence and peace of mind. You can see how much power is being sent to each wheel, multiple camera views for obstacle avoidance, and your spin.
You should be able to haul equipment to the job site with ease. Multiple camera views, including one from the rear bumper, let you keep an eye on things. You can see each feed on the digital rearview mirror or the infotainment screen.
3. Ram 2500 HD does not cause fatigue
Driving large rigs can be stressful because they are loud, rough, slow, and difficult to maneuver. But the 2023 Ram 2500 HD Rebel is surprisingly comfortable. You can still feel the diesel engine vibrating under harder acceleration, but it’s an improvement over the old trucks.
While the diesel engine is quite loud, the Ram 2500 features active noise-canceling software to provide a quiet cabin. The engine is a bit louder while climbing over obstacles, but it’s easy to cover it up with radio or tune.
Also, the huge leather seats are well-cushioned and inviting for hours of comfort. People can stretch and relax in the front and back. The dual-zone climate control is powerful and effective for personal comfort settings, too.
Driving the Ram 2500 HD Renegade on the highway and narrow streets is an engaging, low-effort activity. The safety features are subtle but helpful, and the ride is very smooth. Larger impacts can hit hard but are quickly settled.
In addition, this big truck is smart. Taking it into town for lunch or errands is no big deal. It’s fast and easy. Stopping the Ram 2500 HD Rebel is very easy, thanks to its tight turning radius. Camera views provide plenty of visibility for backup or debugging, too.
It may have a premium price, but it’s a good investment. It is durable, comfortable and sturdy, suitable for daily work and driving.
