YouTube is rolling out an update to analytics reporting that will benefit creators who make videos in different formats.
You will now be able to see the total number of video views for each type of content that you post on your channel.
Previously, data was consolidated into a single metric that counted views for all types of content.
YouTube is making these changes to help you understand and compare the performance of different video formats.
You can compare the views of regular videos, against short films, against live broadcasts to see what type of content drives the most engagement for your channel.

Separate data for content types in YouTube Analytics
When this change is rolled out, what you will notice in YouTube Studio is that there is no file Reach And link The tabs you’re used to seeing are at the channel level. They are replaced by a new tab called Content.
The Content tab will be a compact home where you can keep track of the performance of your different types of content.
When you click on the Content tab, you’ll see several navigation items that take you to metrics for individual video types.
For example, you will see a file videos button If you are creating long-form videos (VODs), a Shorts button If you are creating short videos, a He lives button if you’re going live, etc.
There is also a file everybody button, which is best used to compare performance across different format types.
These changes will roll out in the next two weeks to all mobile and desktop creators.
This update only applies to analytics at the channel level. There are no changes to analytics at the video level and there are no changes.
Why is YouTube making these changes?
Feedback from creators indicates a strong demand for discrete analytics. As mentioned earlier, all video views are currently aggregated into a single metric.
YouTube adds separate analytics, as well as the ability to compare metrics for the first time.
No data is removed, it is simply presented in a different way.
If the data appears to be missing, it may have been moved to a new location. For example, traffic sources data will appear via YouTube Analytics rather than having its own section.
Answers to frequently asked questions
What about watch time?
Content creators may want to know when they will be able to access more granular data, such as Watch the time By content type.
YouTube says it’s hard to include all metrics in all places. If you want to see your watch time by content type, you can access it Advanced mode in the upper-right corner of YouTube Studio on your desktop.
From there you can filter metrics by content type, which will enable you to get watch time for different formats.
What about historical data?
Metrics filtered by content type are only available up to a certain point.
If you want to see a complete history of your data, you can get that in the advanced mode on the desktop version of YouTube Analytics.
