YouTube Adding More Analytics Data About Views & Revenue

YouTube is working on ways to give creators more data about video performance, including detailed reports on the sources of views and revenue.

In addition, YouTube plans to actively help creators generate new video ideas by adding trend reports.

These features are previewed in a new video on the Creator Insider YouTube channel, which gives a “glimpse” of what the reports might look like when they’re available.

Some reports are being actively worked on, while others are in the idea stage.

Here’s more about the analytics data that YouTube plans to release later this year.

Video views are divided by type

YouTube creators want more information about where the views of their videos come from.

If you post regular videos, publish short stories, and host live broadcasts, all views are counted as one metric in your analytics reports.

YouTube is working on new reports that provide an overview of the different video formats and views generated by each type.

You’ll be able to see data about how many hours of video you’ve uploaded, how many hours you’ve streamed, how many views you’ve received for each format, and more.

“We want to give you an overview of the different formats. So, for example, how much is uploaded and how much is live. Tell you about the views for each format, tell you about the overlap in audience between these different formats, and then let you dive into each format at sharpness. So you can see the right analytics, whether it’s for regular, short videos or live broadcasts.”

Revenue is broken down by source

For eligible creators to monetize their videos, YouTube plans to add more data about individual sources of revenue.

Revenue data will be broken down by type of video and how it is generated.

You will be able to see how much money you have made directly from Regular Videos, vs Short Films, vs Live Streaming.

In addition, YouTube plans to add more data on the monetization methods it offers.

The new revenue report will provide a more detailed look at memberships, branded products, SuperChats, and all the different ways to make money on YouTube.

Helping creators find new video ideas

Another type of report that YouTube is working on will provide data intended to help generate new video ideas.

YouTube recently launched an experimental tool that shows the popularity of certain search terms and content-lacking video topics.

This tool will expand to show you trending topics on YouTube and videos that are growing in popularity with your audience.

In addition, the tool will provide ideas for new topics that you can expand your audience with, topics that are likely to resonate with your existing audience.

There is no timeline for when any of these new features will be rolled out. YouTube plans to keep working on it throughout the year.
