3 Potential 2023 Chevy Colorado Drawbacks to Consider

You may notice that the completely redesigned Colorado is the hot truck on the market. He’s getting all the attention because the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma won’t be here for a while. But just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado has three things to think about

We’ll quickly admit that the 2023 has important upgrades to consider if you’re in the market for a new midsize truck. It has a more confident appearance, stylish interior, and advanced technology.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado still has a cramped back seat. The previous model limited rear passenger space, especially for adults, and the new generation still struggles.

People around 5’7 may notice that while in the back seat, their knees hit the back of the front seats. There’s not exactly room to stretch out, and the back is only comfortable for short trips around town.

Also, installing rear-facing child seats can seem impossible. It is not the best choice for four adults. But the new design improves space and comfort for the driver. There is a more convenient design that puts everything within easy reach.

2. THE NEW COLORADO HAD SOME TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

2023 made some technical decisions that were a bit strange and perhaps frustrating. Some physical controls are integrated into the new 11.3-inch touchscreen. For example, you need to use the touch screen to adjust the controls of the lamp.

You won’t find a physical button or knob to change lamp settings. So you have to rely on the automatic LED headlights to do their job or learn how to access the main menu and adjust the settings.

The system is powered by Google and looks great. The graphics are fairly vibrant, but for some reason, the camera’s resolution falls short. The reverse camera and 360-degree camera views are a bit blurry.

Some critics question why Chevrolet has gone to so much effort to improve the technology without upgrading the camera’s resolution.

3. Colorado could have a better standard engine

It has more power than before, but the base engine falls short. The standard 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It increases 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque over the outgoing model.

While it seems a bit faster, it does seem to suffer from lag and can be slow to respond. You may need some extra time to pass others or blend into traffic. The new eight-speed automatic shifts smoothly, and the brakes are confident, but the power is missing.

You can upgrade to the 2.7-liter Turbo Plus engine with 310 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque or the Turbo High Output version with 310 horsepower or 430 lb-ft of torque. It is a little strange that the High Output model does not have additional horses.

Also, for some reason, the new engine doesn’t sound great. Every 2.7-liter version is rough. The cabin fills with a noticeable drone, especially under intense acceleration.

While the 2023 Chevy Colorado has plenty of upgrades to celebrate, such as a modern interior, advanced technology, and off-road upgrades, it’s still a bit rough around the edges. The interior is cramped, technology lacks physical controls, and the engine is noisy.
