The Ford Maverick Is Still Selling Like Hotcakes

Since its introduction in the 2022 model year, the Maverick has been a hot product. It may be a pickup truck, but it proves that not everyone wants something big. In fact, it was so popular that buying one seems almost impossible. And sales don’t seem to be fading anytime soon.

How many Mavericks has Ford sold?

In the fourth quarter of 2022, Ford moved 22,568 units of Maverick pickups. That’s a 77% increase when compared to the same period in 2021. For the entire 2022 year, Ford’s pickup sold 74,370 units, which goes to show how popular this compact pickup is.

Sales fell in Canada and Mexico. However, the Ford Maverick dominates its class. The Hyundai Santa Cruz isn’t a bad truck, but it doesn’t keep up with Ford’s pickup.

The Ford Maverick is small but mighty

It may be a unibody truck, but it has some legitimate capabilities. It rides on the same platform as the Ford Bronco Sport, and can do things like tow and haul. When properly equipped, the Ford pickup has a towing capacity of 4,000 lbs.

One of the biggest changes is the Tremor package. Maverick already had an FX4 package, but Tremor is really taking things to the next level. It gives this pickup truck an inch of lift and revised all-wheel drive. While the Maverick is not meant for heavy off-roading, it can handle some light road tasks.

Can you buy a 2023 Maverick?

Unfortunately, if you like it, you may not be so lucky. The Blue Oval opened orders for this truck in 2022, and the books have been open for about a week. This is a reflection of how hot the commodity is.

Not only does Ford struggle with the ordering process, but delivery to customers is also proving difficult. If you place an order for this truck, there is a good chance that you have not received it yet. This is because it is hit hard by supply chain issues.

Hopefully, with time, Ford can figure out how to keep up with the demand for the Maverick. Understandably, people feel frustrated with the situation around them. If you ordered this minivan and haven’t received it yet, it’s definitely not ideal.

The pickups are back

For the longest time, no one was selling a pickup truck. But that changed with the Hyundai Santa Cruz. And with the popularity of these two trucks, I don’t think brands like Ram and Toyota would consider pickups either.
