The RAM Electric has been rumored for quite some time, and now we finally know what it will be called. Now, it’s important to note that we don’t have all the details, but we do know more than we ever did. It should go into production sometime next year, and it’s sure to go head-to-head with the Ford F-150 Lightning.
What is a Ram electric truck called?
Ram’s new EV will be called the 1500 Rev. And if you’re familiar with the electric Ram truck, you probably guessed it. This is because this pickup was originally called, but that was just a concept version.
The Ram 1500 Rev will go into production next year. Although the brand has shown this truck at the Chicago Auto Show, it is still in its concept form. The concept car is basically a teaser of what the car will be like. There may be a number of changes to the Ram 1500 Rev before it is officially revealed.
In some ways, Ram seems to be a little late to the show. Ford had already gone into production, and the brand was already struggling to keep up with demand. So while trucks with combustion engines are likely to dominate the road well into the future, there is clearly a demand for an electric pickup truck.
What could change in the Ram 1500 Rev?
The concept we showed off at the Chicago Auto Show will likely be different from what we see on the road. For example, it’s hard to see Ram producing a truck with wagon doors and without a B-pillar. The other big change might be the roof. As it is, the electric Ram truck concept has an all-glass roof. This may not be practical when dealing with things like the heat of the sun.
It also has something that can only be described as a third row. Maybe we’ll have that in a production model, and it will certainly make it a more practical car. But a three-row truck might not be in the cards.
