How To Leverage Amazon Prime Day To Grow Sales [Podcast]

Amazon Prime Day has opened the doors to endless marketing promotions for the second time this year.

Refersion’s Raj Neger joins me on the SEJShow to discuss Amazon Prime Day marketing opportunities on and off Amazon.

Even for businesses that aren’t on Amazon, there are opportunities to take advantage of the new October Prime Day, which is on its way to becoming as big a day for holiday shopping as Black Friday.

This is the first time they have finished the two prime days. The first is in July, so it’s the beginning of the third quarter, and now they’re doing one at the beginning of the fourth quarter. It shows you that there is enough demand out there and that there is enough inventory as well. Now that supply chains are back to normal, shipping rates are back to earth, and frankly, many brands are sitting on a lot of inventory. Amazon’s timing couldn’t be more perfect – Raj Niger 9:04

Amazon is probably one of the most efficient out there. I think from that perspective, it works, which is why you see conversion rates six to seven times as high as a B2C website – Raj Nigger, 31:46

I also think you’ll have a generation going away that knows what Black Friday is. When was the last time, maybe five or ten years ago, people lined up outside the store to go shopping? Black Friday has become an online event. As this generation fades and disappears, the concept of Black Friday may not be around anymore. – Lauren Baker, 31:59

It can’t be like B2C vs Marketplace. It should be like B2C and Marketplace. – Raj Niger 17:24

It’s the Amazon promise. It is fulfillment, shipping and payment. It’s all systems and processes, but it’s like magic for you as a consumer. – Raj Nigger, 16:15

If you’re worried like, Oh my God, I don’t want to put my brand on Amazon, most likely your competitors are already there. They’re out there just fine, and they’re already selling and having success. They have registered with the Trademark Registry, which gives them protection and product protection. But they also get a plethora of selling and marketing tools because you’re in complete control of your listing. – Raj Nigger, 23:13
