Bon Voyage: The Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel Is Being Discontinued
We have bad news for diesel fans and Wrangler enthusiasts. The Rubicon will be the last model to feature the EcoDiesel engine. The engine is being dropped by the Ram 1500 and Wrangler, so bye bye.
Jeep Wrangler 2023 is your last chance to get an EcoDiesel engine
The 2023 Rubicon is your last call for diesel power because the EcoDiesel engine is being dropped. In 2024, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine that produces 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque will not be available.
Jeep has not provided an official date for when the EcoDiesel engine will end production. It can be discontinued in January 2023. This is when engine production for the Ram 1500 is scheduled to end.
This engine is currently available with the Jeep Gladiator, but Stallnatis didn’t share it if it was to be discontinued in a Jeep truck. To be safe, if you want this engine in any of the vehicles currently on offer, go ahead.
Check out the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Farout Edition
The EcoDiesel 2023 engine kicks off strong. To celebrate the final farewell, it will be presented with the new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Farout Edition. Wow, that’s the mouth.
The Farout build is based on the Jeep Gladiator Farout concept for Overlanding, which features EcoDiesel for its off-road capabilities.
In this build, the engine was paired with the ZF 8HP75’s eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic transmission. Calibrated for low rpm shifts.
The Farout Edition has heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles, a 3.73 axle ratio, and a two-speed Rock-Trac transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. It rides on 17-inch by 7.5-inch black brushed aluminum wheels.
Includes trailer tow package with 240-amp alternator, 700-amp maintenance-free battery, 7- and 4-pin wire harness, auxiliary switches, and a Class II receiver connection.
Exterior features consist of LED daytime running light bulbs, LED front fog lights, LE Premium reflector headlights, LED taillights, body-color lights, a satin black grille, an exclusive 3.0L diesel badge and a 3.0L diesel engine hood.
The interior features black leather seats with red accents, velvet floor mats, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote start.
What is the cost of a 2023 Wrangler EcoDiesel?
Pricing starts at $30,249, and a choice of EcoDiesel engine adds $9,390. Therefore, it starts around 40 thousand dollars. Rubicon trim increases cost to about $42,100 before the diesel engine is added. So, you can look around $52,000 with the Rubicon EcoDiesel.
Therefore, we can speculate that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimted Rubicon Farout Edition will be very expensive. However, the official price has not been released. You can order Farout until November 2022, and deliveries should begin by the end of the year.
We know Jeep Wrangler changes but we’re not sure how different it is. It should be remodeled for 2024. Also, the first Jeep Wrangler EV is expected to arrive in 2024. But we can confirm that the EcoDiesel engine is on its way out.
