Although many full-size have undergone a luxurious makeover, customers still want a machine that can haul. When properly equipped, it has a maximum towing capacity of over 10,000 lbs. Even the all-new Toyota Tundra’s turbo-six meets that mark. But another full-size truck from Japan doesn’t cross the threshold with the 2023 Nissan Titan. Its 9,320-pound capacity has been beaten by the following five trucks.
1.2023 Ford F-150
The all-new Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, but internal combustion does it even better. In its strongest configuration, it can tow 14,000 lbs. On top of that, the company offers more than 130 drivetrain combinations, including a series of different axle ratios for towing boost. However, to get the maximum, potential buyers should choose the Super Cab with an 8-foot bed or the Super Crew with a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. Also, a 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6.

Chevy Trucks
Although the Silverado couldn’t beat the Ford, it still offered a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds. The configuration for the highest towing rating carries over to Double Cab models equipped with the Max Trailering Package. The turbocharged, heavy-duty 3.0-liter inline-six or the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 will provide equal pulling power. But Chevrolet beats Ford in the average maximum rating across the range, with a 10,300-lb.-tie rating for the 9860 Blue Oval.
3.2023 GMC Sierra 1500
Although mechanically identical to the Silverado, the Sierra has a smaller maximum towing capacity. But it’s only 100 pounds difference. If chosen in the same configuration as a properly equipped Silverado, the Sierra can manage 13,200 lbs. Furthermore, the Max Trailering Package comes with a state-of-the-art viewing system with up to 15 exterior camera angles.
4. 2023 Ram 1500
It’s hard to beat luxury, well-balanced handling, and tech features. However, the full-size Mopar can’t haul as well as its American competitors. At wide, the Ram averages 9080 lbs. But in quad cab form and a 5.7-liter Hemi V8, the light-duty Ram has a maximum towing capacity of 12,560. Opting for the naturally aspirated 3.0-liter turbodiesel will result in a maximum net towing capacity of 12,750 lb. -ft.
5.2023 Toyota Tundra
Fifth place may not look so good, but the Tundra’s 12,000-pound maximum towing capacity is still close. The crew cab can only pull off those numbers with its 3.4-liter V6 engine, making 489 horsepower and 90-plus torque. While the hybrid version boasts 583 lb-ft of torque, maximum towing drops to 11,330 lb-ft. This is due to the inability to configure the hybrid engine with the Crew Cab Tundra.
2023 Nissan Titan Maximum Towing
The 2023 Titan’s 9,320 lb limit will probably be enough for your daily towing requirements. Unfortunately, the Nissan Titan doesn’t offer different axle ratios to aid in different driving dynamics. Also, it is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. While its 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque won’t make most people feel satisfied, American manufacturers offer at least two more engines in their full-size offerings.
If the -faithful wanted to pack a bit more dragging punch, the 2023 Titan XD has a heavier frame but the same powertrain. However, its maximum towing capacity of 11,033 pounds is still less than the less capable Toyota Tundra.
