3 Used Supertrucks for Under $10k

Why should supercars have all the fun? The truth is, they don’t: Many automakers now offer high-end pickups with a supercharged or off-road suspension inspired by a trophy truck. Some newer models, like the GMC Hummer EV, have MSRPs well above $100,000. So it might shock you that you have multiple options for used monster trucks under $10k that can hold their own on today’s roads.

  • Ford F-150 SVT Lightning
  • Chevrolet Silverado SS
  • Toyota Tundra Supercharged

The mad scientists of Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) are responsible for the modern F-150 Raptor. But before that division set its sights on pioneering the factory-engineered desert racer, let loose the original F-150 Lightning. SVT Lightning 1999-2004 is one of the most popular cars since 2001 The Fast and the Furious. Since Hollywood’s famous Lightning generation stole all the thunder from the original truck, the 1993-95 square body version is surprisingly affordable.

. Ford has also thrown the same engine into the Harley Davidson four-door version, which is more affordable.

2003-2006 Chevrolet Silverado SS

Not to be outdone, General Motors launched its supercharged truck in 2003. The Silverado SS came with a high-output 6.0-liter V8, which produced 345 horsepower. It also featured torsion bar front suspension, 20-inch aluminum rims, and a 4.10 final drive.

Chevrolet Silverado SS changed every year. All 2003 is four-wheel drive, all 2006 is rear-wheel drive, and 2004 and 2005 can be ordered either way. Early versions had four-wheel disc brakes, but this feature has also been abolished. Unlike the Lightning, the Chevrolet Silverado SS comes with an extended cab, which makes it a slightly more practical option for those who carry passengers a lot. You can get a Silverado SS for less than $10K, though the rare “Intimidator” edition (in memory of Dale Earnhardt Sr.) is a little more expensive. MotorTrend found that it can hit 60 mph in 6.7 seconds.

Toyota Tundra TRD Supercharged

The Toyota Tundra TRD Supercharger is one of the rarest monster trucks on this list, and one of the fastest. It’s hard to tell how many were there because Toyota Racing Development (TRD) built a supercharger for the Tundra’s 5.7-liter V8, but customers had to order it from the dealer. The result can result in 504 hp.

MotorTrend tested the short-cab, short-bed model from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. You can order the TRD Supercharger on a range of configurations, so this monster truck comes in all shapes and sizes. The only problem is that they are extremely rare, but they do sell sometimes, sometimes for less than $10,000.
