3 Significant Changes Could Hurt the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

It’s time to celebrate the Crosstrek for kicking off its third generation. This mighty little SUV is back with tons of new features to get excited about. However, he’s made some interesting moves that might hurt him a bit.

2024 returns with its award-winning recipe. It is a sports SUV based on the Subaru Impreza. Just add some body trim, raise the suspension, and it’s Subaru’s best-selling model.

it dropped its manual transmission option. This probably isn’t a big deal due to how unpopular manual configurations have become. However, seeing this feature bite the dust hurts.

Subaru has had some credit by continuing to provide manual setups. But now, the 2024 Crosstrek is only available with the continuously variable automatic transmission. However, you can control the vehicle manually with the paddle shifters.

2. The 2024 Crosstrek just got smaller

According to , the Subaru Crosstrek just got even smaller. This goes against the trend of giant SUVs! While the Crosstrek does indeed have a longer wheelbase to possibly improve its ride quality, passenger space has taken a slight hit.

You may notice a little less legroom and headroom than before. In addition, the cargo space in the rear has been slightly reduced. The Crosstrek already lags behind the backpack in cargo space, which means you may have to get creative to stow all your gear.

However, the Crosstreek has wide door openings and a high roof which are helpful when installing child seats and storing larger cargo items.

3. The 2024 Crosstrek has no more power

It has the same engines as the previous generation. The standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine delivers 152PS and 145Nm of torque. It can take 10.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph.

You can upgrade to the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine for 182bhp and 178Nm of torque, which can accelerate from 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds. It’s adequate but not exactly exciting. It could only tow up to 1,500 pounds like the outgoing model.

A little more muscle would seriously spice things up. However, there is still hope. Rumors are still circulating about a hybrid powertrain option joining the lineup.

While the 2024 Crosstrek looks better, is more comfortable and is smarter, it has fewer options available, has lost some space and has not received any extra power.
