Chevrolet hasn’t been as big a hit as expected, though Chevy says it can’t keep up with orders. Sales figures show that of its rival Honda HR-V, at 115,416 versus 60,888. But the Trailblazer’s numbers are similar to other small SUVs like the Mazda CX-30 and Toyota Corolla Cross. We were expecting an update to come, which is for the 2024 version.
What’s new with the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer?
Style, more standard features and updated technology improve on the Trailblazer’s past features. But what gets noticed first is the new front fascia. A bolder blackout grille, slimmer headlamps, and lower vents that reduce body-color sheetmetal are the major changes. The lower black valance also lines up better with the side trim than on the previous version.
. The safety suite includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, Lane Keep Assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, forward collision warning and IntelliBeam high beam control.
Both the ACTIV and RS receive blacked out body features, a two-tone roof and chrome tailpipes. The ACTIV version gets meatier tires, shocks and dampers, giving it more of an off-road character. In addition, wireless charging is now part of the LT, ACTIV and RS models.
Two engines are available, the 1.2-litre with 137PS, while the 1.3-litre offers 155PS. The Honda HR-V is identically powered, while the Mazda CX-30 makes 191bhp for the base 2.5-litre and 250bhp for the optional 2.5 turbo. Too bad the Trailblazer can’t come close to the CX-30’s numbers.
What’s new inside?
The Trailblazer has more standard features than previous years. Push-button start, cruise control, an 11-inch touchscreen and HD rear view camera now come with the base LS. Among the changes to the interior, body-colored trim is added.
First, the popular RS version hit showrooms in 2021. While its midway production numbers may need a boost, the Trailblazer still beats out the Jeep Compass, Nissan Kicks, and Hyundai Kona in sales. We should also add that one of the reasons for the lower sales for all of the smalls mentioned here could be attributed to supply chain issues.
When it was originally launched, the base model sold for under $20,000. While no pricing has been announced for the 2024 model, last year’s version had a . We expect to see a similar price tag for the facelifted 2024 version as well.
