But the auto industry is starting to change, too. Electric cars are starting to gain traction, and the people who make the trucks aren’t ignoring that. We have the Rivian R1T, but one manufacturer is noticeably absent. There is still no electric Ram truck.
Is Ram an electric truck?
If you want to get an electric truck, you’ll need to wait. Although brands like Ford have already begun producing electric pickups, Ram is yet to enter the fray. But that doesn’t mean the company is resting on its laurels.
Ram plans to introduce an EV. In fact, it had been bothering one for quite some time. Once the Lightning debuted in 2022, the electric Ram 1500 started popping up on various social media platforms.
The concept of the Ram Revolution is an electric truck
Now, it’s important to note that this is just a concept car. That’s not to say the Ram EV is what it’s going to look like. But it gives us an idea of what the electric Ram truck can offer in terms of design.
Notable features include the oversized headlights along with the illuminated Ram logo. And although the Revolution doesn’t have a beefy V8, it still flaunts aggressive lines and an angry face. Both are things truck drivers seem to love.
Ram clearly has its sights set on the Ford F-150 Lightning. Ram and Ford have a long history of rivalry, and the two often vie to make the best trucks. So, even though Ford’s EV truck is the first to arrive, Ram hasn’t thrown in the towel in this battle.
EV pickups are here to stay
There is no way to get around it. Electric trucks are controversial. After all, people who drive trucks often enjoy the combustion engine experience. There are also things like how the diameter will affect the EV’s range and how the batteries will hold up in the long run.
Pickup trucks are known for being long lasting vehicles. Given their tough build quality, it’s not surprising to see models with over 200,000 miles on the clock. Will he be able to do the same? Really only time will tell and some consumers may be reluctant to adopt electric vehicle technology in their trucks.
There is also the issue of cost. The Ford F-150 Lightning seems to be getting a price increase every day. And even a business specification model can be a little pricey. Over time, these compounds will likely become more accessible. But for now, expect an EV Ram to cost more than one equipped with an internal combustion engine.
