The title of the most reliable Toyota car for the 2023 Corolla Cross crossover SUV is based on the annual Automotive Reliability Survey. For the most recent Auto Reliability Survey, CR collected owner surveys for more than 300,000 vehicles in the previous year. This includes all vehicles in the Toyota range. The owners have identified various problem areas, such as brakes, electrical systems, paint, leaks, noises and engines.
Compared to other Toyota models, Corolla Cross problems were less frequent and severe. As a result, it took first place for Toyota reliability. The next most reliable models of the Japanese automaker are the hybrid and the Prius.
Also, CR ranks Toyota as the most automotive brand. In addition, Lexus, its luxury division, ranks second in automotive brand reliability.
Changes for Corolla Cross 2023
For the 2023 model year, the 2023 Corolla Cross adds a new efficient hybrid model. Along with reliability, a Toyota strength is its hybrid technology. And now the automaker has applied it to the reliable crossover SUV.
The hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, delivering an estimated gas mileage of up to 37 mpg combined. The hybrid is also the fastest model in the range, with a 0-60mph time of 8.0 seconds, compared to 9.2 seconds for the fully gas-powered version.
In addition to the new hybrid model, the 2023 Corolla Cross has a few other changes. That includes expanding the trim lineup with new XSE, SE and S trims. Plus, there’s a new infotainment system, with an eight-inch touchscreen, over-the-air updates, cloud-based navigation and wireless smartphone integration Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the crossover SUV has added USB-C charging ports.
The most reliable Toyota car isn’t the Corolla or sedans, according to Consumer Reports. It’s the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. With its high standard, the crossover SUV is less likely to have frequent and major repairs, resulting in a lower cost of ownership.
