Google has updated the Job Posting page in Search Central Developers to remove South Korea as a region where the job search experience is available.

Google search experience

Search experience is a rich result, at least three of which are interactive rich results.

Rich results stand out from the regular search results, drawing attention to the web pages listed within.

According to Google search experiments Gallery pageThere are three interactive search experiences:

  • It happened
  • household activities
  • job posting

Here is a screenshot of a search result with a formatted result for the job search experience:

Job search experience

Google provides companies with the ability to rank their job postings in a rich, interactive result called the Job Search Experience.

Companies can use JobPosting’s structured data to become eligible to appear in the job search experience.

There are actually two ways to qualify.

Google Documentation is recommended:

You can improve your job search experience by adding JobPosting structured data to your job posting web pages.

Adding structured data makes your job postings eligible to appear in a special user experience in Google search results.

You can also integrate with Google using a third party job site.

Regional availability of job search experience

This rich result is available in regions around the world:

  • Asia
  • Europe
  • latin america
  • Middle East and North America
  • north america
  • Sub-Saharan Africa

While work experience is available worldwide, it is not available in every country.

For example, the job search experience is not available in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania.

The job search rich result was available in South Korea but Google has recently quietly removed it from Regional availability documents On February 28, 2023..

An entry in the search center developers page Change It was added in March 2023 with the following statement:

February 28th: South Korea removed from regions available for Google job search trial.

I spoke with international search marketer Christopher Shin of Digital Asset Managers (LinkedIn profile) to ask why Google left the Korean market for job search posts.

Christopher shared:

“People in Korea don’t use Google to search for jobs. They go directly to job posting sites when they search for jobs.

None of my clients have ever asked, not even once, about optimizing job postings at Google.

It’s not the way people look here.”

Christopher also explained that Google has about 43% market penetration in Korea, up from 5% about eight years ago.

Google is getting more and more popular in Korea. But Korean search patterns may not justify keeping the job search experience there.
