The new Edge L 2024 just revealed in China certainly doesn’t look like it here in the US. It is larger, with more conventional proportions, mainly due to the long bonnet. The big question is why Ford chose China to get first dibs, and will it be coming to the US as well?
Current US Ford Edge not ready for a replacement?
Yes, there are some vehicles that we don’t have in the US for various reasons. If so, we would understand. Ford says sedans don’t sell in the US, so he forgets he sees any Mondeos come here.
it arrived in 2014, with a 2019 facelift. So the current Edge has had a good, long run. Some reports indicate that Edge has been discontinued. But with this segment so hot, we think Ford isn’t pulling off as much as it’s killing the Edge name.
What engine options does the 2024 Ford Edge have?
While we don’t know what Ford’s plans are for the Chinese Edge, we do know about the SUV itself. It’s slightly larger than our Edge, with the biggest discrepancy in overall length. The 2024 Edge is nearly eight inches longer.
Power comes in two choices according to . A gas-powered 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder, or the hybrid version of the 2.0. The power differences are 249 HP and 271 HP, with the hybrid. The hybrid also offers more torque, better fuel economy and a range of 738 miles. Active all-wheel drive is standard for both powertrains.
How is the cabin?
Inside, it’s a highly coveted three-row. Nearly the entire extent of the dashboard is screens, with a 12.3-inch display for the driver, then a 27-inch 4K touchscreen that extends almost all the way to the passenger door. A flat, wide center console offers plenty of storage space, wireless charging and a gear selector.
The inside of the Edge L base gets the two-tone treatment with copper accents. The premium ST line has black leather with red details. There’s a head-up display, ambient lighting, reclining front and second-row seats, a panoramic roof, Bang & Olufsen audio and a host of driver assistance features.
Is the 2024 Ford Edge now available in China?
The style goes with the heavily sculpted, mostly mid-body trend. The LED headlights wrap from side to side in a subtle presentation. Two different lower fascias are available, with the ST-Line featuring a more aggressive design with larger vents at each end. An interesting design detail is a skeg or fin that rises up to the C-pillar from the beltline.
The 2024 L will hit showrooms in April in China. As for here, we think it’s a great replacement for the current model, but Ford is being mum. As they say, “Stay tuned”.
