Do Any New Trucks Have a Manual Transmission?

Do you want a new pickup with a manual transmission? Well, if that’s the case, then you belong to a very small minority of consumers. In 2023, the vast majority of new trucks are sold out, and more and more manufacturers are abandoning the manual transmission option.

What New Trucks Offer Manual Transmissions in 2023?

In 2023, you can only get two new trucks with manual transmissions. Those pickups are the Tacoma and Jeep Gladiator. Unfortunately, it seems the days of the hand truck are long gone. And your best bet for a car like this might be looking for it rather than buying a new one.

In terms of being a mid-size truck. It is known for its powerful features and for being fairly reliable. In 2023, you can have this truck with a manual transmission. But this feature is limited to certain trim levels.

The six-speed manual is only available for V6 Tacoma models, and it’s not an option on all pickups with the engine. The Toyota Tacoma SR, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro are the only versions of this truck that you can get as standard.

Although limited, it’s nice to see the Toyota still offers some oomph for people who love the old-school driving experience. Accordingly, the manual transmission should carry over to the next generation. Although it has not been confirmed whether this is actually the case.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator features a standard transmission

The second new truck you can get with a manual is the 2023 Gladiator. Since its introduction, the Jeep has offered the ability to run manual shifts. This makes sense, as the Gladiator is essentially a Wrangler with a pickup truck bed. Although, if you like it, you should choose the 3.6-liter V6.

The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 comes with automatic transmission only. But, it seems that many people lean towards the petrol engine when purchasing this mid-size truck.

Most trucks come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Which is not surprising, given that this jeep also comes standard with crank windows instead of power ones.

Is the manual transmission dying?

It seems that outside of sports cars, it will go far. This is an unfortunate fact of life, because people don’t buy them in the numbers needed to justify making them.
