Consumer Reports Doesn’t Recommend the 2023 Rivian R1T
The Rivian is among the most exciting and innovative cars we’ve ever seen. Endless and never-before-seen options, a potent electric motor, and brutal off-road capability make the 2023 car significant, more than anything else. However, Consumer Reports cannot recommend this cutting-edge technology because all of this technology is made with a very large margin of error. The number of new features paired with accelerated production from an all-new company left CR suspicious of the R1T’s reliability.
Is the Rivian R1T reliable?
It’s hard to answer this question definitively because Rivian is so new that there’s a lot of data to work with. He says that because of this lack of data and the growing pains typically associated with auto startups, it’s unlikely that Rivian’s first production vehicle, the R1T electric pickup, will be reliable.
. Given all the available data, the Rivian R1T is an excellent pickup truck.
If the truck proves to be reliable over the next year, as more people buy and drive it, CR will likely adjust its rating and recommend the truck.
Can you buy a 2023 Rivian R1T?
While the 2022 and 2023 models are available for reservations on Rivian’s online portal, new reservations won’t be delivered until 2024, according to Rivian.
This is a trend we all know at this point. Anything new and noteworthy in the automotive world comes with a long wait. Base MSRP for the 2023 Rivian R1T starts at $73,000 and can climb depending on the additional trim you want.
