In case you missed it, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is off the production line. As modern vehicles do, IIHS put the SUV into its routine testing. The Mazda CX-50 is the IIHS 2022 winner, the highest award currently offered.

The Mazda CX-50 2023 gets high marks in collision avoidance and mitigation. The 2.5 Turbo, 2.5 Turbo Premium, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus all have LED projector headlights which earn the SUV a notch higher. Both low beams and high beams provide good visibility for drivers. The high beam beam helped compensate for the weaknesses of the headlights.

The standards for these safety awards have changed dramatically in the past year, causing some of the usual award winners to falter. Mazda got it right the first time around with this one.
