Microsoft has announced the launch of PubHub, a new piece of Bing Webmaster Tools that helps news publishers dramatically expand their reach and attract more readers.
PubHub for news publishers
PubHub is a new way for all news publishers, regardless of size, to exponentially increase their readership. The only prerequisite is that the publisher has already subscribed to Bing Webmaster Tools.
The aim of PubHub is to help millions of new readers discover quality news websites by displaying their content at various points where the audience might be interested in consuming news content.
According to the advertisement:
Bing helps you get in front of the millions of people using Windows 10/11 and Outlook with the Outlook News Connector.
News is also available within the Bing search app on both iOS and Android.
As a publisher, when you submit your content through the Bing Publisher Network, you significantly expand your reach, giving your stories and outlets greater exposure.”

What news sites qualify?
Bing listed four adjectives they would search for in a news site to feature on PubHub.
The focus is on site quality, user experience, and promotion of exceptional sites.
Sites that want millions of users would do well to focus on providing objectively the best content.
Bing lists four criteria for eligible news websites:

Bing indicates that eligible news sites must cover events and topics of interest that are actual news. Topics such as advice columns, how-to, weather, and inventory information are not eligible.
Bing also notes that content related to product promotion will also not be eligible.

When multiple organizations are reporting the same thing, Bing makes it clear that originality such as facts, analysis, and viewpoints matter.
Authority
News content should contain quotes from sources and provide comprehensive attribution, including author information.
readability
Bing requires that sites not contain intrusive ads and that the content has good grammar and spelling.
A new opportunity to increase the number of readers
The new PubHub provides an opportunity for publishers who make the effort to create quality reports to be rewarded with more readers.
