3 Things That Make the Chevy SSR a Cool Truck

Back in the early 2000s, it seemed like he was running unchecked. The company has been making some really strange and sometimes impractical cars. One of these land vehicles is a pickup truck. The SSR was only two doors, with an old design, and for a while it was equipped with a Corvette engine. And while this Chevy truck was a huge flop, it does have some redeeming qualities. These might be the great top three.

The Chevy SSR had an LS2 engine

Although this truck initially came with a 5.3-liter V8 engine producing 300 horsepower, GM eventually decided that wasn’t enough. In 2005, Chevy added the LS2 engine found in the C6 Corvette. That’s right, the same engine found in Chevy’s most iconic sports cars was also in the style of the pickups of the 1950s.

Take a look at the condition of the roof. It may look like a regular cab, but it actually has an electrically retractable hardtop. This means that you can enjoy an outdoor experience while driving the product.

Convertible mode really adds to the retro feel of the SSR pickup. And the retro doesn’t stop there. There’s a lot of curves all around this car, and it’s only available as a two-door. That may have contributed to the failure of this Chevy truck. Most people tend to prefer a four-door vehicle, unless it is a sports car.

The Chevy SSR was a fast car at the Indy 500

According to the Chevy SSR, the car was the Indy 500 Pace in 2003. That didn’t stop it from being discontinued after just a few years, but it’s great nonetheless. The Indy 500 is an iconic race in the United States. So, the high-speed car probably gave the SSR a lot of publicity back in the day.

At the end of the day, Chevy has only sold about 9,000 units since 2003. Things didn’t get much better from there. In total, nearly 25,000 examples of this truck were built during its 2003-2006 run. That means today; They are somewhat rare. And honestly, I think this truck deserves some respect.

It is not unusual for a car to be unpopular in its time. And the SSR was the product of brands trying to build “old” cars, including the Ford Thunderbird. While this truck isn’t really good at doing truck things, it looks great and is unlike anything else on the road.
