Not all SUVs are created equal, and I thought the 2023 Honda Passport was one of the more impressive options. Honda has equipped the 2023 Passport with a powerful V6 engine and a comfortable interior. It has room for five passengers and gets 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. All-wheel drive is included in every trim level, something much of the competition charges extra for.

Kia’s three-row Telluride is one of the highest-rated SUVs under $50,000
No matter where you look, the 2023 Kia Telluride is one of the highest-rated SUVs on the market this year. The Telluride has comfortable seating for seven or eight passengers and plenty of room in the cargo area. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and plenty of USB sockets keep the whole family charged.
Kia has many useful safety features on the Telluride this year, such as Blind-Spot View Monitor and Safe Exit Assist. Some trim levels are equipped with Highway Drive Assist 2, an advanced adaptive cruise control useful in traffic.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has not yet given the 2023 Kia Telluride an overall rating, but it has scored high in its tests. While the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn’t yet thoroughly tested the new version, it received its award in 2022.

For those looking for the top-rated SUVs under $50,000 that offer a little luxury, the 2023 Lexus NX 350 checks all the boxes. Lexus knows a thing or two about luxury, and the NX offers an upscale, comfortable cabin. Since it’s on the smaller side, the NX 350 gets relatively good fuel economy.
Some of the NX 350’s best safety features include emergency steering assistance to avoid hazards and lane departure warning with steering assistance. Lexus also has Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Management that helps maintain a safe distance between the SUV and other cars.
The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety gave the 2023 Lexus NX 350 high scores in its safety tests, but a full rating isn’t yet available. Same with the scores of the , although the NX should receive a high score as in previous years.
