By combining three electric motors with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid gets an estimated gas mileage of up to 37 mpg combined. By comparison, the 2023 CX-30 has estimated fuel economy of up to 29 mpg combined.
Compared to the CX-30, the Corolla Cross gets eight more mpg. That extra mpg translates into savings at the pump for crossover SUV drivers. What’s more, even the all-gas-powered version of the Corolla Cross is more efficient than anything the CX-30 offers, with gas mileage estimated at up to 32 mpg combined.
In addition to reducing the vehicle’s cost of ownership, the Corolla Cross’s increased fuel economy offers the benefit of convenience, as it doesn’t have to stop as often at stations as compared to the CX-30.
Other ways Toyota Corolla Cross is better than Mazda CX-30
There are other ways the 2023 is better than the 2023 CX-30. This includes more storage space. The Corolla Cross has a rear cargo capacity of 26.5 cubic feet and a maximum cargo capacity of 66.8 cubic feet, compared to the CX-30’s 20.2/45.2 cubic feet.
Furthermore, the Corolla Cross is a significantly more reliable vehicle. JD Power gave it an 82/100 reliability rating, while the CX-30 received a 61/100 rating, due to multiple problems. Also, the Corolla Cross has a free maintenance plan. Covers factory scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles. This includes multi-point inspections, oil changes, topping up fluids, and tire rotations. However, it doesn’t offer a free maintenance program.
With its efficient new hybrid model, the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross has a big lead over the 2023 Mazda CX-30. The hybrid model is something to consider for crossover buyers, especially those who prioritize high clearance in gas miles.
