Which Luxury Cars are Made in America?
With recent legislation incentivizing electric vehicle manufacturers to make their cars in America, luxury brands like Audi and Mercedes-Benz are considering new American factories. Which begs the question, who is made in America today? There are many American and foreign brands, including a few that may come as a surprise.
Cadillac is the American luxury car brand
When it comes to American-made luxury cars, no brand can beat what Cadillac brings to the table. Every car that Cadillac produces is made in the USA, something that no other automaker can claim.
The CT5 comes from a factory in Michigan. This means that 100% of Cadillacs sold in America come from here, which puts it in first place.
Half of the Lincoln lineup is made in America
While Lincoln is also an American luxury car brand, one of its four models comes from Canada. However, it comes from a factory in Illinois. Meanwhile, both the Corsair and Navigator ship from the brand’s Kentucky factory. However, the Nautilus is currently being made at that Canadian plant at least until 2024, according to Ford Authority.
All BMW SUVs are made in America
While the brand’s sports cars and luxury sedans are made in Germany, all BMW SUVs are made here in America. This includes the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 gas-powered BMWs, as well as the all-new V8 turbo-hybrid SUV.
Mercedes-Benz models Made in Alabama
Although the range is limited, there are quite a few Mercedes-Benz models from American factories. The three-row is built alongside the GLE SUV and GLE Coupe in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This plant also produced the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan until 2020, when production moved to China.
Volvo production reached the United States in 2016
While Volvo is far behind in the game than some of its peers, now you can start from the 2018 Volvo S60. Production of this model began in 2018 at the Ridgeville, South Carolina plant.
Additionally, the 2022 Volvo XC90 three-row three-seater began production at the same plant in late 2021, which means Volvo’s smallest and largest cars come from the same American plant.
More American-made luxury cars to come
With recent incentives for American-made electric vehicles, we’ll undoubtedly see more American-produced luxury cars. Volkswagen is already looking for sites to build a factory that will produce both VW and Audi EVs. And with Tesla as a luxury brand, there is already a major US automaker producing all of its electric cars on our shores.
