The next generation Ranger has reached a number of international markets. And that means there’s a new Ranger Raptor in town. But this off-road truck is notably absent here in the States, despite rumors that it will be released for 2023. Don’t worry, Ford has plans to drop its midsize truck in North America. And from the looks of things, he’d be a winner.
Ranger Raptor will come with a powerful V6 engine
When Ford reintroduced the Ranger in the United States, there was a huge disappointment. The V6 is no longer offered, even as an option. Since 2019, it has been equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
For the 2024 model that will change. The Ranger Raptor is expected to be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It should generate around 392 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. That should definitely provide enough power for a mid-size truck of this size.
This is going to be a serious off-road truck
Ford reserves the Raptor name for some of its most capable cars. Most notable is the Ford F-150 Raptor, but there’s also the new Bronco Raptor. It will complete the trio of off-road vehicles. And it must prove that it has legitimate 4×4 slides.
We do not know the exact specifications of what this mid-size truck will offer. But from various spy shots, it looks a lot like its international counterpart. It will likely have a locking front and rear differential and an improved suspension. This version of the Ranger will also have some increased ground clearance.
The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor is the new Ranger
When Blue Oval reintroduced its mid-size truck in the United States, we didn’t get the same truck that other markets got. In fact, Ford chose to bring back the Ranger in its previous generation’s form. But once the 2024 model arrives, we’ll finally be on the same page as the rest of the world in terms of this pickup.
The new generation should mean a revised interior, improved driving characteristics and, of course, trim.
When can you get the 2024 Ranger?
Not available yet. But it is expected to arrive soon. When you arrive, getting one may not be so easy. If the Ford Maverick is any indication, when the Blue Oval product is popular, it can be hard to keep up with demand.
It would be surprising if it didn’t stay open for long when orders for the 2024 Ranger opened. Ford’s multiple vehicles were hard to find at dealerships. Reportedly, even the 2023 F-150 will close orders for certain configurations. So it’s hard to see a Ranger Raptor widely available, at least at first.
