The 2023 Chevy Colorado WT Is a Work Truck Bargain

The Colorado is new, improved and ready to go. There are a few standard features that would make Fleets very happy. While trucks are getting more expensive, the WT is at least loaded with standard features to enhance its value.

What comes standard with the 2023 Chevy Colorado WT?

Kicking off the 2023 WT Work Truck lineup is a low-output, turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. That’s more powerful than the standard Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma engines.

For 310 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. This engine allows the Colorado to tow up to 7,700 lbs. Also, RWD is standard, but 4WD is available.

The interior has cloth upholstery, manual seats, an 11.3-inch infotainment screen, an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, push-button start, two USB ports, and under-seat storage. The Ford Ranger starts with a simple LCD radio screen.

Exterior features include 17-inch forged steel wheels and all-season tires. Black trim covers the front fascia, bumpers, door handles and side mirrors.

The front bumper has tow hooks as well. There are eight-bed tie-downs, hitch assist guides, and a shock-absorbing corner step.

Halogen headlights are basic, but premium safety features consist of automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic headlights, and lane keep assist.

How much does a 2023 Colorado WT cost?

Pricing for the 2023 WT starts at $29,200. This is an MRSP, so it doesn’t include the $1,495 destination fee or dealership selling margins. Also, we understand that it sounds expensive for a basic work truck.

But the Ford Ranger CrewCab also starts at $29,585. The Colorado has been recently redesigned and offers more standard features and advanced technology. In addition, the Colorado has more standard safety features.

Upgrading to the Colorado LT doesn’t offer many benefits. It starts at $31,600 and adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 17-inch wheels, and a locking tailgate. It has body-coloured bumpers and door handles.

It does, however, open the door to a few other options. It can be paired with 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, and a Bose premium sound system.

Is the Colorado Trail Boss Affordable?

The Trail Boss is the most affordable off-road-oriented model in the lineup. It starts at around $37,000, which is quite a price jump. On the plus side, it has a high-output engine and standard 4×4.

It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 32-inch all-terrain tires, and has a limited-slip rear differential. Its track is two inches wider, and it has a suspension lift of 2.0 inches. You can access Hill Descent Control and additional off-road modes.

But it features largely the same interior as the Work Truck. Additional fees go for mechanical upgrades. While the Trail Boss may not be the best deal, the Colorado WT is a bargain. It has more to offer fleets and workers than similarly priced competitors.
