What Are the 5 Best Full-Sized Trucks According to Edmunds?

Compact or fine for the kinds of trucks most of us do. But some of us just want or need more, so we look forward to a full-size truck to get us to the job site, to transport five people in comfort, or to pull and haul us. Those of us who have a lot want a truck that’s reliable, comfortable, and can get the job done. Edmunds has released its list of the best full-size trucks for 2023. What made the list?

No. 1: Ford F-150

He proudly says the F-150 is a full-size truck. While this is true, Ford has constantly upgraded the model. Today’s Ford comes with every spec imaginable, and its latest engines are not only turbocharged but have hybrid boosters as well. The F-150 can be ordered with luxury trim, or a work truck cabin, either way it looks good at doing what it needs to do.

. It beat out competitors like the Rivian R1T for the honor.

No. 2: Ram 1500

It’s less expensive than its competitors, and that helps boost its score. But Ram has made strides where it counts: The 1500’s ride is fantastic, thanks to the independent rear suspension, and the interiors are hard to beat in top-level trims. For 2023, they’re getting giant screens and keeping the 5.7-liter V8, which now comes with a 48-volt hybrid-electric boost.

No. 3: Toyota Tundra

The Tundra got a complete makeover from Toyota for 2022 and brought Toyota back from running condition as well to being one of the top manufacturers in the full-size truck game. It’s a new turbocharged V6 that makes 348 or 437 horsepower with a hybrid battery. Its specs mirror the F-150 in many ways, but its design is certainly no different. Whether it’s the $40,000 base SR version or the $78,000 Capstone Hybrid luxury truck, the Tundra has Toyota’s signature styling that sets it apart.

No. 4: GMC Sierra 1500

The GMC Sierra 1500 bucks the hot off-road trend for 2023 with the release of the new AR4X AEV that adds skid plates, steel bumpers and special shocks. While this is big news for the Sierra, at its core it’s just a more luxurious and elegant version of the Silverado. If you like your truck to be efficient, GMC now offers a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers just as much power as V8s did a few years ago, but you can also order the mighty 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower.

Look for the all-new Sierra in 2024.

No. 5: Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Which is bigger, the Ram 1500 or the Chevy Silverado?

Like the GMC Sierra, the Silverado comes with new engine options from General Motors. Also, like the Sierra, there’s a new one on the horizon for 2024. Unlike the Sierra, it doesn’t come with that truck’s premium price, which is one reason for that. But the Silverado recently got a refresh that improved the truck overall, especially on the inside, where a new screen and digital instrument cluster give it a new truck look. The Silverado is a lot of truck, but it’s hard to compete in the ultra-competitive full-size truck world.
