YouTube Shorts Adds Another TikTok Feature – Voice Narration

YouTube is adopting Shorts, another popular TikTok feature that allows creators to narrate through videos. Learn how to add voiceovers after you’ve recorded a piece of content.

You can use voiceovers to enhance your short films, such as explaining how to do something, adding an insightful commentary, or writing funny comments.

Prior to this update, YouTube did not make it easy to add your voice to a recorded video. You had to capture your voice while recording the video.

Now, you can add audio commentary to YouTube shorts after recording. Learn how to do this by following the steps in the next section.

How to add a voiceover to YouTube shorts

After you’ve recorded a short YouTube video, you can add a voiceover by following these steps:

  • Tap the check mark button at the bottom right of the camera screen
  • Click on the voiceover button
  • Move the vertical white line in the video’s imagery to where you want the voiceover to start
  • Press the red record button to start recording and press it again to stop recording.

You will be able to play your own voiceover before posting the video. If you are not satisfied with how the voiceover appears, you can click the undo button and re-record it.

As a final step before posting your video, you’ll have the option to adjust audio levels across Music, Original Video Audio, and Voiceover.
