Why We Need a Honda Ridgeline TrailSport

There’s really no getting around it; As a mid-size, the Honda Ridgeline has never been more popular. But with rumors on the way, maybe this pickup truck will see some new interest from the public. One thing that would undoubtedly help is the introduction of the Honda Ridgeline TrailSport.

What is the Honda Trail Sport Package?

Essentially, the TrailSport package is an option that adds some legitimate off-road capability to the Honda. It can currently be found on Passport as well as Honda Pilot. In fact, it’s new for 2023. It looks like it can handle life on the trails.

Honda will have a truck that can compete with the Ford Maverick Tremor.

Is Honda redesigning the Ridgeline?

With Honda introducing a new generation of the Pilot SUV, it’s hard not to think the brand is planning a new Ridgeline. The current generation of this truck has been around for quite some time. And it doesn’t necessarily fit with Honda’s current design language. An update will likely mean a new interior and possibly a more rugged exterior.

My personal hope is that the third generation Ridgeline will also add TrailSport trim. I’m not saying the TrailSport will be the most powerful thing on the road. But if you like camping or off-road adventure once in a while, it’s probably good enough.

For now, the Pilot SUV may be the best indicator of what the future holds for the Honda truck. And accordingly, it is a rather desirable car. With trucks like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz growing in popularity, perhaps the updated Ridgeline will attract more attention.

After all, she has never struggled to win the praise of journalists and various publications. That love never really translated into success for Honda in terms of sales. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to call this truck an understatement. If the Japanese automaker gives the Ridgeline a complete redesign, it might finally win the hearts of truck buyers.
