Why Are the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon Delayed?

It’s been a tough year for pickup production, precisely because. The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon left some people in the dark. There seems to be a reason and GMC hasn’t made it into the hands of order holders yet, and there’s nothing they can do about it.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are still behind

It was published earlier this month that the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon are delayed but will ship soon. One reason for the holdup is that the company has not yet agreed to all fuel economy estimates. Only the Colorado WT and LT trims powered by the turbocharged 2.7-liter four L2R engines made it to dealerships. Since the 2023 GMC Canyon does not come with the L2R, no Canyons have been shipped yet.

It only lists two versions of the trucks.

This is a 2WD 2.7-liter, four-cylinder, eight-speed automatic, turbocharged engine with regular petrol that gets 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. The EPA also lists the four-wheel-drive Colorado getting 21 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. It’s possible that both have the L2R engine, while the Turbo Plus L3B and 2.7L Turbo High-Output L3B haven’t yet. 2023 Canyon doesn’t even appear on the website yet.

Shoppers who ordered Canyon and Colorado at the end of last year were hoping to get notice of the shipment. Chevrolet and GMC have informed buyers that the trucks will begin production sometime this month, but shipping is another story.

GMC and Chevrolet have not reached out to consumers about any additional delays. Some received notification that the truck was built, while some received information about the scheduled start date. Some users near GM’s Wentzville Assembly plant spotted around 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and trucks sitting in the parking lot.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks were supposed to ship last week, but that could be any day now. According to the US Department of Energy, the EPA tests vehicles “through a series of driving procedures, also called courses or schedules, that determine the vehicle’s speed for each point in time during laboratory tests.”

The EPA’s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory tests cars on a dynamometer, or “dyno.” This provides fuel economy information for each vehicle in the city, on the highway and under various conditions such as high speeds, air conditioning and cold temperatures. Once testing is complete, the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon should be in dealerships within a week.
