The Best Ford Truck According to This Critic May Surprise You

There is no shortage of pickup truck options. There are many options available in different sizes with a good range of towing capabilities. You can get a Ford truck with a powerful V8 engine, an efficient turbocharged engine, and even a truck with a motor.

While many trucks have plenty of power, not all of them are the most reliable. With trucks being pushed to their limits every single day, getting a truck that will last a long time is important. One popular auto site says that this Ford truck is more reliable than most of the automaker’s entire group.

The Ford F-150 is arguably the auto industry’s most famous pickup truck and one of the most competitive entries in the full-size segment. Engine choices range from a 290-horsepower V6 to a supercharged 700-horsepower V8. The full-size F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 3,325 pounds.

It also offers three cargo bed lengths and two cab sizes, with the SuperCrew providing ample legroom for passengers. The truck’s tailgate can double as a work surface, and the bed has an optional power outlet. Most of the F-150’s comfort features also carry over into the respective heavy-duty classes.

The Ford F-150 Lightning is all-electric, powered by two electric motors and your choice of two battery options. The best setup puts out 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque and gives you 320 miles of range. Having a long-range battery also allows the Lightning to tow up to 10,000 pounds on Lariat and XLT trims.

The Ford Maverick comes standard with a hybrid powertrain that generates 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with the CVT and is estimated to earn 42 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. Although efficient, its towing capacity is only 2,000 lbs.

An optional Ecoboost engine allows the Maverick to tow up to 4,000 pounds. This engine makes 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, plus it’s the only engine that can be selected with AWD.

The Ford Ranger is said to be the most reliable option

The mid-range model currently has a nearly perfect reliability rating, with an annual maintenance cost of $615. It only has a 12% chance of needing a major overhaul, which is below average for the sector.

The Ford Ranger only has one engine option, a turbo four that makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 7,500 lbs with the right upgrades.

It also has two bed sizes and two cab fit options. Unfortunately, its standard interior technology offerings lag behind many of its competitors. Of course, with fewer features, you won’t need many small fixes.
