On January 19, 2023, the North Carolina Boone Police Department received multiple calls about a John Deere farm tractor driving erratically in a parking lot. Mail. He wrote, “What a day… So, many of you have heard, or seen videos, that we have begun a tractor chase. The stolen tractor was operated by someone we know very well, Mr. Ronnie Hicks. You might think that a farm tractor moving at 20 mph wouldn’t be much of a challenge to the police in North Carolina. However, the ensuing chase presented its own set of challenges.

During the chase, Hicks headed into oncoming traffic. He also crashed into a Bonn police car. The police also tried to stop the tractor by putting spike sticks in the road, but they were not effective. Additionally, while what follows doesn’t capture the most dangerous aspects of the chase, there is an exciting moment where there are unmarked speeds ahead of the tractor. And yes, pun intended, “Ram” beats “Dir.”

After Hicks turned onto Highway 421, police worried he was going to a nearby elementary school. Therefore, they used stricter measures to stop him and his farm tractor before he got there. When he reached a secluded section, a Boone police officer shot out the tires.

However, like position or terminator, keep going, and it seems indestructible. The John Deere tractor lives up to its reputation for durability. Despite driving without a front tire, it kept making noise. However, after Hicks switched to a privateer, he ran out of the way—and the chase was over.

But the ordeal did not stop there. With no more way to drive the John Deere tractor, Hicks jumped out of it, wielding a knife. Hicks was then stopped in his tracks by a police officer with a taser. With the tractor immobilized, the Bonn police took him into custody. Fortunately, despite the harrowing chase, no injuries were reported.

As indicated in the above statement from Chief Le Beau, this isn’t the first time that Hicks has competed with in the North Carolina city. Once he was caught, the cops arrested him for reckless driving and reckless driving.

The moral of the story is not to drive drunk – even if with a slow-moving John Deere farm tractor.
