Volkswagen Golf R Orders Halted In Australia

Although dealer stocks in the United States are now slowly returning, a global shortage of parts continues to exist in other parts of the world. Australia recently announced it would stop taking orders for models — including the Tiguan R — and Golf R hatchback and wagon due to severe parts shortages.

Those looking to get from the ground up will have to wait longer if they are looking for an AWD model. According to the company, “Orders for the Golf R range, and the four all-wheel drive variants of the standard wheelbase, five-seater Tiguan — 132TSI, 147TDI, 162TSI and R — will be paused” until further notice. “

It shares with the rest of the golf group. Fortunately, parts should start pouring in soon.

Other models are still available

Although scope orders have been paused, orders for the Tiguan Allspace scope will remain open because these models are made in Mexico. Still other models, such as the 12,000 T-Roc R SUV, are also on hand. There are also a lot of customization orders for the Tiguan R, albeit on a temporary hiatus. As of now, 1,000 Tiguan R orders are on hold.

In a statement, Volkswagen Australia noted: “Only the Tiguan R has a higher total order bank (than the T-ROC R), and improved production for Australia means that more of these orders are being met.”

Volkswagen went on to say that it also has a stock Tiguan Monochrome special edition – as well as the Passat wagon, Passat Alltrack, Arteon and Touareg.

Does the shortage in the Australian Volkswagen market affect the US market?

no. Although the shortage of parts for the Australian market obviously includes parts we can find on any of the Tiguans or Golf R models we get here in the states, none of them were affected. Interestingly, some orders for Volkswagen ID.4 models appear to have been affected by the loss of all-wheel drive parts during the latter part of 2022.

According to some forum members on VWidtalk.com, a message forum for current and future Volkswagen ID.4 owners, some orders have been stopped due to missing AWD parts. Nobody said exactly what parts were missing, but we suspect it was a similar situation to what’s happening in Australia. Fortunately, with orders paused, there’s a chance that factories can keep up with the increased demand for the affected models. At least, that seems to be the case with the Tiguan R models.

We just wish they could bring some Tiguan R models here. maybe one day.
