The Ford Maverick Is Gaining 80,000 Models to Meet Demand

We have great news for the Maverick fans out there. If you missed your chance to hop on this pickup truck, don’t worry. There are a few more upgrades on the way to ramp up production and pump out more 2024 models.

It’s time to reduce the queue and increase the speed of manufacturing. Accordingly, production of the 2024 Ford Maverick will increase by 80,000 models in 2023. The number of Maverick models produced by the year is currently unknown.

It was hard to find. But the order books for the 2023 Maverick opened in the summer of 2022, and production started around November. We can expect a similar pattern.

Reservations for the 2024 Maverick will likely open in August and September, then the new models will enter production in the fall. But of course, Maverick production is subject to delays.

Ongoing semiconductor chip shortages, supply chain issues, and rising inflation could affect production. In addition, Ford may need to catch up on the order backlog before accepting new orders.

Few 2022 Maverick models have been converted to 2023 orders due to higher supply and demand constraints. Therefore, don’t be surprised if 2023 applications are converted into 2024 options.

While it takes about 10 days to build a batch, delivery lead times currently range from five to eight months. But some people may have to wait more than a year.

Also, it’s unclear if current production will be discontinued to increase Maverick production. The production plant may require upgrades before it can handle the capacity increase.

What can we expect about the 2024 Maverick?

The 2024 Ford Maverick will likely be primarily a carryover model. It was just released in 2022 and it still feels brand new. It’s still a little early for this truck to receive a mid-cycle refresh. Plus, the new Ford Ranger is about to debut, and the 2024 Ford F-150 is getting a mid-cycle refresh.

Fans would certainly be happy if the 2024 Maverick Hybrid could be paired with all-wheel drive. Currently, the gas-powered model is only available with the AWD and Trailering Package. Maybe the Maverick Tremor will be available with a hybrid powertrain, too.

But the 2024 model will likely still sport new shades of paint and wheel designs. Also, Ford seems to love dropping new Special Editions and packages. We’ve got our fingers crossed for the Ford Maverick ST to drop.

We’ll likely get updates for the 2024 Maverick in the spring or early summer. Until then, we can confirm that there will be more models available to reduce the high demand and long waiting times.
